Drew Linder was named Pitt baseball's Director of Player Development in August of 2018 by head coach Mike Bell.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Drew Linder to the Pittsburgh Panther baseball family," said Bell. "Drew is a rising star in college baseball and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in his young, but successful career. His work ethic and passion for college baseball will be a perfect fit for our newly created position here at Pitt."
Linder joins the Panthers after spending the 2018 summer league season with the YD Red Sox of the prestigious Cape Cod League, where he served as an assistant coach for the regular season champions.
"It is a privilege and honor for me to join Coach Bell and the remarkable staff he has put together," said Linder. "Coach Bell is a very passionate and persistent leader and has exciting goals in place for Pitt baseball. This is an exciting time for me in my career, but even more exciting for the Pitt baseball program. Hail to Pitt!"
Over the last two years Linder has held several positions with USA Baseball. In the summer of 2016 he served on the Task Force and Evaluation Staff for the Tournament of the Stars, selecting the top talent from around the country to represent the U18 National Team. In the same summer, he was also on the Selection Staff for the National Team Identification Series (NTIS), identifying and selecting players for the following years USA Developmental Programs.
In 2017 Linder was named the Bullpen Coach for the Collegiate National Team under manager John Savagewhere he assisted with the USA pitching staff and the roster selections for the team.
The Collegiate National Team went on to win all three of the International Series against Taiwan, Cuba, and Japan. During the summer of 2017, USA held a 15-5 record and had a team ERA of 2.15.
Linder was a four-year member of the Florida State baseball program, serving as the bullpen coordinator and assisting with the Seminoles' pitching staff. He was a member of three ACC Champion Seminoles squads and also worked with the program's baseball operations and camp efforts.
A native of St. Augustine, Fla., Linder graduated from Florida State in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in business management.
